Big Lottery Fund Tablet Donation

NBC-UK distributed 70 tablets to elderly citizens

In an active leadership and hard work from fellow Executive Committee member and Charity & Fund Management co-ordinator, Mr Lekh Nath Ghimire, Nepalese British Community-UK (NBC-UK) was successful in receiving charity funds from The National Lottery Community Fund to support elderly citizens living in and around Greater London. The fund was utilised by donating electronic devices (tablets) to assist elderly and needy citizens helping them to interact with their friends and families within the UK and abroad during this difficult time badly hit by Covid Pandemic.

The donation program was held on two separate occasions coordinated by the organisation’s ex co-ordinator and the patron, Mr Kamal Raj Khanal. Both the events were held at Golden Sip Restaurant, South Harrow, London on 7th October and 11th November 2021. NBC-UK is proud to mention that a total number of 70 tablets were donated. Each and individual tablet was prepared and personalised by Mr Churamani Regmi, IT Department Head of NBC-UK. Mr Regmi also demonstrated the use of the tablets to the volunteers and the users. The devices have been installed with various apps and programs such as facebook, messenger, whatsapp, youtube, Nepalese Calendar, radio channels etc.

Both the events were amply supported by the current chairman (co-ordinator), Mr Rajendra Ojha as well as past co-ordinators, Mr Kamal Paudel, Mr Kamal Raj Khanal and Mr Milan Ghimire. An overwhelming support from the organisations executive committee members: secretary Mr Rabindra Adhikari, Mr Kul Prasad Sigdel, Mr Churamani Regmi, Mrs Anju Regmi Sigdel, Mr Basanta Nepal, Mr Rishi Khanal and many more volunteers were present at the events. Both donation events were smoothly run by Secretary Mr Rabindra Adhikari.

On both distribution events, NBC-UK provided dinner to the participants where they expressed their sheer joy and happiness being honored and presented such a useful device during the difficult time brought forward by the pandemic. All the recipients tendered their sincere thanks to NBC-UK and The National Lottery for the devices as well as ongoing support and communication until the end of December 2021.

One of event was published in our quaterly bulletin last month. The link of the full bulletin can be found here.
